What is Krita?

Krita is a free and open source, KDE program for sketching and painting, offering an end–to–end solution for creating digital painting files from scratch by masters.

Fields of painting that Krita explicitly supports are concept art, creation of comics and textures for rendering.

Modelled on existing real-world painting materials and workflows, Krita supports creative working by getting out of the way and with snappy response.

You can download Krita for free (as well as all the latest news and improvements) at
The documentation is online at and includes introduction guides and tutorials.
See what other Krita users are doing on our forums here:…
And here is our new Facebook page:…

If you are having trouble uploading krita made images, check this link for a step-by-step for converting your image to a nice deviantart-ready png or jpg…

We only accept images that had Krita used in making them. When submitting images to this group, be sure to tag it with Krita or mention Krita in the description, so that we can verify that.
We're doing a Krita user survey:…

It's mostly to figure out if there's certain combinations of hardware that are particularly buggy, but we also ask other things, like what you use Krita the most for, or what your biggest gripes are.

excuse me, but I'd like to ask a question? whenever I try to create a new image using Krita, it opens up a blank canvas for a few seconds, and then closes the program out and says that it's stop responding. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, restarting my computer, etc. but it doesn't seem to actually do anything. I've tried looking up a solution and can't find any answers, so I decided to just ask here.

1) Start Krita
2) Go on Settings>Configure Krita>Display>OpenGL
3) Uncheck it

Hope it helps :)

When using the stylus eraser on my Intuos3, Krita won't revert back to brush directly when I attempt to draw after erasing.

I have to go into my brush settings and reselect the brush I was just using to get that to work. Using the brush as an eraser function works no problem.

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your time.

I don't think so. I'm having the same issue for some reason with my 2013 Intuos Pro after reinstalling windows. Not sure what causes it, but it can be frustrating. Have you tried to disable or enable windows ink in your Wacom driver? I might try that out tomorrow.

Hi. I have problem contributing art to a gallery. The main gallery is full and there is no option for choosing Gallery 2. But I see other choices (Resources, Animation, Comics).

Do I have to be a group member to contribute to Gallery 2?

Only Contributors can add art to gallery. If you want to send something to the group you must as "Suggest a Fav".
